Chicago Democrat Raymond Lopez has been trapped in his own party for turning a blind eye to crime, accusing leaders such as Gov. JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson of whitewashing while standing in front of President Trump’s repressive style.

Since 2015, Lopez, who represents Chicago’s 15th District as Alderman, warned that electing “left” leaders like Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist, will only lead Democrats on the wrong path and undermine their image.
“If we want to make a big difference, we need to go back to the center,” he said.
