Charlotte mayor slammed over comments after woman stabbed to death on train

Democrat Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles faces criticism for the killing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who is riding a Blue Line train North Carolina When she was stabbed by a random attack.

Fox News Digital contacted Lyles’ office about her statement and the resulting criticism, but received no immediate response.

Jones wrote on X: “Charlotte’s Democratic mayor thanks the media for keeping silent about a tragic death, which is a complete indication of how Democrats in big cities are trying to cover up their crimes.”

Republican Rep. Ralph Norman, a South Carolina, warned his state residents to “beware of a trip to Charlotte when Mayor Lyles continues to serve.”

He called on the mayor to resign after his reaction to the attack.

“We don’t need more criminals and distorted criminals ‘compassion’,” Norman said in a statement. “They need to be imprisoned. It requires death penalty. Mayor Lyles should resign. Her statement of concern for the attacker made her unfit for leading a major city. ”

Records obtained by Fox News Digital show Brown has arrests that date back more than a decade, including convictions for theft and 2013 break-in and intrusions, and convictions for dangerous weapons in 2015, sending him to jail for more than six years.

Brown was released in 2020 but has been on parole until 2021, after which allegations against him include communication threats and abuse of the 911 system earlier this year. Police said Brown and Zarutska did not know each other and the attack was random.
