Charlie is a very charismatic leader of the modern Republican Party. He started out as a kid, he cared about politics and slowly became someone who could change the way people treat Republicans.
Charlie grew up in the Chicago suburbs. He went to public high school. It ranges from a white school to most black and brown schools. He is in a school that is very supportive of Obama. Tell me about the turning point in the United States and how many followers it has.
Charlie Kirk has always been a political fan and he has always been conservative. But he was concerned about economics at first. He cares about what he thinks is a budget deficit, a government that spends too much, and is too high in China’s taxes, which he feels have overwhelmed the U.S. and bullied the U.S.. He was very involved in the Trump election in 2016 and in the Republican Party at the time. At that time, he evolved his perspective into more of the issues of cultural war as we know: issues surrounding diversity and equity programs, reproductive rights and Second Amendment rights. He became an advocate of conservative social stance, and he believed that young people (if any) were silent and did not encourage voice.
How important is he to Donald Trump’s success?
The ability Charlie really brought to President Trump initially is a very effective, dynamic and charismatic communication skills with young people who are Charlie and Trump and other conservatives who really want to see the movement before Trump and Charlie. On these issues, the more he turns right, the more interested he becomes in a kind of biblical leadership in our country, which is the merger of the church and the nation. The more conservative he has, the more he has, and he actually develops his followers with a more modest audience. That was indeed his genius—a time when he increasingly turned to podcasts and social media influencers to build friendships. Charlie became their good friend. What you’ll see now is that the young men who are supporters, knowing that Charlie turned to work for him in America, worked for him-they were absolutely destroyed because he had a kind of follower of the cult. People really admire him and look up to him, just like his fear and dislike him outside of the action. He just absolutely admires the heart, and they are still very loyal to him.
What do you think of Charlie Kirk being remembered?
Charlie Kirk has a stamp on the Modern Republican Party, which is truly extraordinary. For many of his followers, he has survived a terrible tragedy. But they know Charlie Kirk’s beliefs, his understanding of how the Republican Party should inspire the nation, and how it should gain followers, these ideas, these strategies, these strategies, they are now embedded in the party and will not disappear.
You have seen that there is a lot of politicized anger and fear now. What do you think we should do?
I think you see two aspects now. You are seeing a part of the country trying to lower the speech. This is a horrible event. And, we will see a huge effort you are seeing now to lower speech, lower violence, and understand the meaning in civil society with legal rules. The other side of you is very angry, very angry, looking for a fight.
Unfortunately, this sad, sad incident will become one of the events that inspire more anger.
