Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk He was assassinated Wednesday afternoon at an event at Utah Valley University.

Kirk spoke on campus when a shot fired from the roof of a nearby building that killed conservative idols. Authorities announced Friday that the suspect had been arrested.

Here is the timeline of the events leading to assassination and arrests:

Wednesday, September 10

11:52 a.m. – The suspect arrives at Utah Valley University

Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said in a news conference Thursday that the suspect arrived at Utah Valley University (UVU) at 11:52 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.

“The topic reached campus starting at 11:52 a.m. Shortly after campus, we tracked his movements through the stairwell to the campus, all the way to the rooftop to the shooting site,” Mason said.

12 pm – The event begins

The event of the TPUSA event held in UVU’s courtyard has begun. A large crowd surrounded a white tent with the words “America is making a comeback” and “Prove me wrong.” Event organizers told Fox News Digital that the event had about 1,400 RSVPs.

12:20 pm – Shooting

University spokesman Ellen Treanor told Fox News Digital that the shooting began at 12:20 p.m. from a building about 200 yards from the speaker. Kirk was answering a question from one of the audience when he shot and hit his neck. Kirk was taken to a local hospital.

Students and those attending the event can be seen rushing to leave the area. Officials said the shooter jumped off one side of the building and entered a nearby community.

12:22-12:30 pm – Cleared campus

UVU said police “built” escort students and employees on campus grounds.

The campus was immediately evacuated and locked. Classes will be suspended until September 14.

UVU police, together with the Utah Department of Public Safety and the FBI Orem Police Department, began investigating the shooting, according to a school spokesperson.

12:53 pm – FBI Director Kash Patel says agents respond

FBI Director Kash Patel It was said that the agent responded quickly to the scene.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shootings of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Patel said. “Our idea is to have Charlie, his loved ones and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly, with the FBI fully supporting the ongoing response and investigation.”

Shortly after the shooting, UVU announced that the suspect was detained, but did not publicly identify the suspect.

5:59 pm – Patel announces the suspect

“After the law enforcement interrogation, the topic has been released. Our investigation continues and we will continue to publish in the interest of transparency,” Patel wrote in an article on X.

Thursday, September 11

7:15 a.m. – FBI, Utah Police Holds Press Conference

Investigators said they had obtained security camera videos from UVU campus showing a suspect wearing black.

Robert Bohls, Special Agent for the FBI At the Salt Lake City Field Office, he spoke at the event with Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason.

“After the shooting, we were able to track his movements when he moved to the other side of the building, jumped off the building, escaped from the campus and entered a community,” Mason said.

Authorities restore suspicious murder weapon

Boles said they took back the gun they believed was the assassination of Kirk.

The weapon “is a high-power bolt-action rifle. The rifle is restored in the woods where the shooter fled. Therefore, the FBI lab will analyze the weapon. The researchers also collected footwear to analyze the impressions of palm prints and forearm branding,” Bohls said.

“We’re not sure how far he went,” Bohls added to the Assassin.

Investigators added that they believed Kirk’s killer was “college age.”

9:48 am – FBI posts photos of interested people

8 a.m. ET – Trump announces suspect detained

Trump said in his first announcement by Fox that a suspect has been arrested.

“I think with a high degree of certainty, we’ll detain him,” Trump said on Fox and Friends.

“Everyone did a great job. We worked with the local police, the governor, and everyone did a great job,” Trump added.

9:35 am – Suspect confirmed

Sources told Fox News that the suspect was identified as 22-year-old Utah resident Taylor Robinson.

10:15 a.m. – Patel says the suspect was arrested during the “historical” period

FBI Director Kash Patel said in a Friday press conference that Robinson was detained less than 34 hours after being assassinated at 10 p.m. Thursday.

“The suspect was arrested in a historical period,” he said.

Patel said the first FBI agents arrived at the assassination site 16 minutes after Kirk was shot and immediately launched the “Fixed Wing Assets.”

“We use these assets to transport personnel, professional technicians, hostage rescue teams,” he said. “We also use these assets to move back and forth from the East Coast and in Utah to transport forensic evidence and other evidence that will be analyzed and are being analyzed in FBI labs in Quantico and other labs, including the ATF and My Directions.”

“The FBI released the first set of FBI photos of the suspect at 10 a.m. local time at 10 a.m. local time. Then soon the $100,000 reward for the FBI award was issued at 10:45 a.m. local. 10:45 a.m. – Utah State University confirms contact
