Provo, Utah – Officials announce Conservative speaker Charlie Kirk Alleged assassin on Tuesday.
Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray said Tyler Robinson was charged with multiple charges, including aggravated murder.
“Charlie Kirk’s murder is a tragedy in the United States,” Gray said. “As a county attorney, I’m accused of providing justice to those who offend our law.”

Gray also made notice of intent to seek the death penalty, meaning the defendant would be jailed without bail.
“I won’t make this decision easily, and it’s a decision I made independently as a county attorney, based solely on the available evidence, circumstances and nature of the crime,” Gray said.
Robinson is also considered a goal based on Kirk’s “political expression.” Gray said.
Gray lists evidence against Robinson, detailing his actions after the shooting, including discarding clothes, hiding weapons and urging roommates to remove the charges.
Authorities said Robinson fired a shot from the roof sniper location and hit Kirk on the Utah University campus, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City last Wednesday.
Kirk spoke to a crowd of about 3,000 attendees when he was shot. He died later that day at a nearby hospital.
Robinson, a third-year electrical apprentice at a Utah technical college, initially escaped the scene amidst chaos.
In addition to information provided by his family, investigators reportedly linked Robinson to the shooting by surveillance videos and digital evidence in his social media accounts. Grey said DNA evidence also linked him to weapons and ammunition.
Gray also highlights ideological motivation, and Robinson’s family and his own remarks indicate a growing political radicalization. Robinson objected to Kirk, accusing him of spreading hatred and leaving a note declaring his intention to kill Kirk.

Gray said his mother said Robinson “has become more politicized…more supportive of homosexual and trans rights.”
Gray also revealed a conversation that took place before a shooting, where Robinson called Uwa a “stupid venue” for Kirk’s activities and accused Kirk of “spreading hatred.”
In his text exchange with his roommate, Robinson also defended his behavior for his resistance to hatred and expressed dissatisfaction with his father’s strong support for the president Donald Trump.
Gray said: “The roommate received a text from Robinson that said, ‘Put down what you are doing. Look at my keyboard.’ “The roommate looked under the keyboard and found a note and said, “I have a chance to take out Charlie Kirk and I will take it away.” Police found a photo of the note. ”
Robinson was arrested two days later at his parents’ home, about 260 miles from the university, after a relative and a family friend informed law enforcement that he had admitted he was involved in the shooting.

While investigators have not disclosed the motive, Kirk’s supporters, including his wife Erika Kirk, portray him as their movement. Kirk, 31, is the co-founder and leader of the U.S. turning point, and is also a close ally of Trump.
