Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh ‘disturbed’ by hacking allegations against former Michigan assistant coach

Los Angeles Charger Head coach Jim Harbaugh said he was “disturbed” by one of his former assistant coaches in Michigan, stole “intimate” photos and videos of athletes (mostly women).

Harbaugh was asked about 24 federal indictments against the former federal indictment on Monday, speaking to reporters at the NFL’s annual spring meeting Michigan Co-Assault Coordinator Matt Weiss.

“After I discovered the TCU game, we found out there were allegations,” he added. “You said it. I mean, prosecution, it’s not a word, sympathize with the victim and Matt’s family. It’s shocking.”

Weiss, 42, was fired for more than two years in a coaching position in Harbaugh, announced the indictment this month, after an investigation into the alleged crime.

According to the indictment, Weiss “gained unauthorized access to student-athletes databases of more than 100 universities and universities maintained by third-party vendors.” He allegedly downloaded personal information and data from more than 150,000 athletes, and from there, Weiss was able to access information from more than 2,000 athletes, including access to its social media, email and cloud storage.

Weiss was accused of using the information to download “personal, intimate digital photos and videos that were never intended to surpass close partners.” The alleged crime occurred between 2015 and January 2023, and he allegedly targeted women.

Weiss, who was fired in 2023 for failing to cooperate with the school’s investigation, did not plead guilty on Monday.

A class action lawsuit was also filed on behalf of several current and former students last week. It claimed the university failed to “supervise and monitor Weiss, so the plaintiffs and thousands of others were illegally hacked.”
