California college faces backlash for replacing men’s, women’s locker rooms with all-sex locker rooms

University of California, Davis announces plans to convert its men and women locker room In entertainment, the center is placed in a “universal” full-sex dressing room. The decision has aroused anger among women’s rights activists.

“We value an inclusive, accessible environment that meets the needs of the community. We are pleased to announce that we will reinvent our current locker room facilities to implement universal locker rooms,” the university said in the announcement.

“All campus recreation members have access to our universal locker room, regardless of who they are or how they identify. These spaces include people with disabilities and members of all gender identities.”

News of the change spread Tuesday after two bills aimed at separating trans athletes from women’s and women’s sports, failing to pass at the state and federal levels on Monday.

California women’s rights activist Beth Bourne posted a protest on X about the Universal locker room and female students.

Women’s tennis legend Martina Navratilova called this situation “beyond—— up”.

“This is beyond f —– up! Prepare to lose a lot of women,” Navaratilova wrote.

Many other users expressed similar anger at their posts.

The university is expected to spend $5 million for renovations, and students must clear all items from their current locker room by Wednesday. The refurbished locker room will not reopen until September.

The university’s announcement notes that all toilets, locker rooms and cabins are separate private spaces compared to the current format and claims that it “provides more privacy for all members”.
