Cal Fire captain who battled Eaton fire was killed by someone she likely knew, officials say

The California fire brigade captain who helped fight the Eaton fire was killed last month and investigators said she might know the killer.

According to a family San Diego Sheriff’s Office Press Release. Deputies responded to a report of a deadly weapon attack around 8:58 p.m. and found Marodi had multiple stab wounds.

Officials said Marody was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives are investigating the murder case as possible domestic violence and believe Marodi knows her killer. Marodi worked as a volunteer firefighter in the Moreno Valley in 1993 and served as a seasonal firefighter in Riverside and San Bernardino County from 1994 to 2000. Marodi was a firefighting agency engineer in 2007 and was promoted to captain in 2022.
