Bryan Kohberger asks a Boise judge to rule out evidence of his Amazon purchase history and other activities in the upcoming trial of death at four universities Idaho students.
Defense attorney Elisa Massoth believes that no Amazon evidence should be introduced in the trial, including “click activity” on the app – partly because the term is vague and that prosecutors allegedly failed to define it or describe the nature of expert testimony, which prosecutors hope to introduce.

She continued: “The state is incomplete and unfair bias toward all Amazon history and Amazon click activity, making it unacceptable.”
Massus also argued Amazon’s AI-driven algorithm By providing products that predict the products that shoppers will be interested in along with paid advertising, “shape user behavior.”
“In 2022, Amazon’s AI-driven system does not passively reflect user searches, but actively guides purchasing behavior based on prediction models.” “This means that users’ browsing and purchase history may not necessarily reflect intentional intentions, but are shaped by Amazon’s algorithms.”

They also claimed that the 30-year-old Amazon account could have been shared with other “family members” – further confusing the shopping list. Kohberger has two sisters besides his father and father.
Previously released court documents show that police tried to use Kohberger with the purchase of Ka-Bar knife after finding the sheath under the victim’s body Madison Mogen, 21. The sheath allegedly had DNA on its snapshots, eventually bringing investigators to Kohberger.

NBC’s “Dateline” reported in 2023 that Kohberger bought a Ka-Bar knife on Amazon in 2022 and then moved to Pullman, Washington State, to attend Washington State University.
Thursday’s Amazon search showed similar knives were both popular and easy to obtain on the website.

Koberg is pursuing his Ph.D. WSU’s PhD in Criminology, just 10 miles from the university Idaho Crime Scene.
Although the search warrant showed that police recovered the knife after Kohberger’s arrest, there was no public determination that it was not publicly identified as a potential weapon of murder.

Mogen and three friends were killed by multiple stabs.
The other victims were Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20.

Kohberger’s trial begins on August 11 in Boise. If convicted, he could face death penalty.
The judge represented him without charges in the arraignment in May 2023.
