Jose Ibarra’s brother is a 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant on February 22, 2024, killing 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley while she is jogging University of Georgia Campussentenced to jail and deportation after admitting to having fake green cards in the murder investigation.
Diego “Gocho” Ibarra, 29, of Venezuela, was sentenced to four years in prison on Wednesday for two counts of possessing fraudulent documents, which was sentenced on July 15, 2024. The sentence exceeds the federal sentencing guidelines and he will not qualify for Parole.

Leken Riley’s illegal brother murders suspects linked to Venezuelan criminal gang
Argenis Ibarra and Flores-Bello acknowledged having fake green cards under different names on February 23, 2024 and admitted to having fraudulent documents in December 2024. However, they remain in the United States.
In Wednesday’s ruling, U.S. District Judge Tillman E. U.S. immigration and customs law enforcement (ICE) custody at the end of his federal prison sentence and ordered the immediate detention of Argenis Ibarra and Flores-Bello.
During Lake Riley’s murder investigation, the Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) was informed of Diego Ibarra’s illegal presence in the United States on February 23, 2024, according to court documents and statements.

At the time, Athens-Clark County Police Department (ACCPD) officials searched for Jose Ibarra, who was close to Diego Ibarra because he matched his brother’s description.
When asked for identification and in custody, Diego Ibarra gave ACCPD officials a fake green card.
Investigators later discovered that his trip to the United States involved multiple Illegal transitAnd, once in the United States, his criminal activities continued.
He was sent back to Mexico on April 3, 2023 and on April 3, 2023, according to a statement from the Central Georgia Attorney’s Office.

Less than a month later, on April 30, 2023, he once again broke into the country with four other Venezuelans by crossing the border near the Ysleta station in El Paso, Texas.
In a battle with the U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agent, Diego Ibarra grabbed and threw an agent’s service radio and then tried to bite. The encounter was broken down by members of the National Guard.
He was taken to the hospital after complaining about chest pain and pain in his back and legs, attributed to his scaling and falling from the border fence during an illegal crossing.
After admitting that his injury was not a fight with agents, he claimed asylum and “fear of returning to Venezuela”.

ICE Law Enforcement and Dismantling Operations (ERO) placed him in an alternative to the May 11, 2023 Detention (ATD) program, and the next day he was released from immigration custody while wearing a GPS ankle bracelet, reported to New York and reported the pending asylum procedure. He has never appeared.
Diego Ibarra’s ankle display was last “pinged” in Littleton, Colorado, and on May 25, 2023, he cut it off sometime before his final arrest, the statement said.
He moved to Georgia, where he briefly worked in a UGA cafeteria, and was later arrested on various charges, including DUI and driving without a driver’s license on September 24, 2023; shoplifting on October 27, 2023; and shoplifting on December 8, 2023 with an outstanding arrest warrant.

ACCPD also responded to a family incident involving Diego Ibarra and his girlfriend on September 26, 2023.
Diego Ibarra caused “severe water damage” when he violated the prison cell hotpot sprinkler system when Diego Ibarra was imprisoned at the Bats County Detention Center for fake documents found in Riley’s murder investigation.
On June 25, 2024, prison guards discovered that Ibarra was equipped with two improvisation weapons, including a bush head with a temporary grip and a pen wrapped in Saran.
Court documents state that Diego Ibarra may be affiliated with Venezuelan illegal immigration partner Tren de Aragua (TDA), based on evidence that includes multiple TDA tattoos and photos of him on social media, making TDA gang logos and wearing TDA outfits.

President Donald Trump cited the 1798 Wartime Alien Enemy Act against TDA on Saturday and designated foreign terrorist organizations on February 20 State Council.
Although the border crossing background between Argenis Ibarra and Flores-Bello is longer than that of Diego Ibarra, investigators found that Argenis Ibarra has also entered the United States illegally on several occasions.
Argenis Ibarra entered the United States illegally near Eagle Pass in Texas, and USBP sent him back to Mexico.
Less than a month later, on April 30, 2023, USBP arrested him again near El Paso, Texas and took him to an ice processing center in El Paso, the statement said. He was released on May 4, 2023, “because the machining center lacks space.”

Similarly, Flores-Bello was arrested after entering the country illegally on May 3, 2023, and was taken to the ice processing center in El Paso and released on May 5, 2023 “because the machining center lacks space.”
She provided her home address in New York and plans to hold an immigration court hearing on October 18, 2023, but flew with Jose Ibarra, whom she met in December 2023 to Atlanta, Georgia in December 2023.

She settled in Athens, living with the Ibarra Brothers until Laken Riley was murdered.
Jose Ibarra was found guilty of malicious murder on November 20, 2024, of three counts of murder and intent to rape Athens-Clark County Superior Court.
He is serving his sentence.
