Maher made another complaint about the proposed high-speed rail not going from Sacramento to San Diego instead of “Merced to Bakersfield”. Newsom provided a long response without resolving Maher’s complaint, and he summoned this.
“That’s why you’re a good candidate. You play this game well,” Maher said with a smile.
The freelance comedian went on to list the personnel of the California bureaucracy, including but not limited to “regulators, administrators, inspectors, contract examiners,” “project managers, fee deputys, special specialists, special specialists, zoning officials, consultants, contractors, contractors, attorneys, attorneys, lobbyists, and sometimes unions.”
“Can’t you pick up a chainsaw? Can’t we propose among these people?” Maher asked.

Newsom assured Maher that “we are moving in this direction very actively,” but quickly revealed how many rules the Republicans have set and accused the Republicans of weaponizing the statute issues.
