There are plenty of great TVs right now, and even those who haven’t become our top pick will likely be a great choice for you. These are some of our favorites and just missed the cuts.
TCL Q6 (2024): This affordable model of TCL has some of the most impressive highlights I’ve seen on cheap TV without fantasizing about the local dimness. I really like the effect of the color, especially when watching modern classics dune or Mad Max’s Rage. The built-in Google interface makes streaming and casting a breeze, and TCL’s history is to make long-lasting medium-priced screens, so you don’t have to buy too much.
Sony Bravia 7: Bravia 7 (7/10, wired recommendation) is a gorgeous display that provides bright brightness, natural colors and exquisite elaboration in subtle details. Its biggest knock is poorer external axle viewing, which can be difficult to swallow at its high price. Otherwise, it’s worth considering for Sony’s glowing fans, especially since Sony seems to have more freedom to discount its best QLED TV than the OLED model.
TCL QM7: There is only one thing to keep the QM7 beautifully balanced (6/10, Wired Review)Our main list: Software failure. In my comment, I went through a problem that adjusted the SDR backlight level to affect HDR, which could lead to severe brightness limits. Although TCL solved the issue in firmware updates for me, it has not been widely used yet. Most people may not have this problem, so the QM7 is still worth considering, but the broader OTA firmware update has not arrived yet.
Samsung S95C: S95C (8/10, recommended online) is still a great choice. This may even be a better option for those who don’t want or need a matte screen in the 2024 model. It is still one of the best OLED TVs you can buy, especially given its very easy to use sale price.
Samsung QN90C: Samsung’s QN90C is still available yet another potential deal (8/10, recommended online) has long been one of our favorite bright room TVs. It comes in a wide variety of sizes, offering bright and colorful pictures and lots of goodies, especially tempting on large giants.
