If you want a warm blanket but don’t want to be traditional, consider an alternative, or a bedspread made of eucalyptus or bamboo.
Buffy Breeze Bedspread, $225: this Buffy Breeze Bedding Cover Have been in my bed for many years. It is made with eucalyptus fiber filler and has an eucalyptus fiber cover which gives it a smooth feel and excellent temperature regulation. It keeps me warm in winter, but in summer it doesn’t get too hot or feel too suffocating. There are cute duvet covers, which I don’t quite like – the bed cover transfers a lot of stuff inside, but If you want a duvet coverwhich is nice, is made of similar materials, so it won’t damage the cooling function of the bedspread. The best part is that the Buffy Breeze is very affordable and will be sold essentially every shopping holiday.
Wayfair sleeps for $150 All-Season Alternative Bedspread: Wayfair’s full seasonal sleep filled with polyester is less expensive, and it’s almost as good as the midway choice you might find in your research. If you are sensitive to allergens, the alternative may be a better option as it won’t capture as much dust and leather as traditionally. It’s too light for my taste, but people with warm climates may appreciate the comfort feeling without all the weight of other blankets.
Alternative bedspread on a utopian bed for $43: If you are on a tight budget, this affordable alternative bedspread can provide a huge value for the price. It is sewn and lightweight, but despite not being particularly heavy, it will still keep you warm. I’m not a big fan of exterior fabrics, its microfiber is a bit scratchy and rough. However, the bedspread comes in a variety of colors (available in 11) and has an angle loop, so it can be used with a duvet cover. It’s also well constructed – unlike some other affordable bedspreads I’ve used in the past, I didn’t find a loose thread or stitch.
Eden & Om Bamboo Bedspread, $224: This blanket is smooth and thin. This is a great option for a summer blanket because it will cool naturally, although instead, you might want to have a warm bedspread next to a cool night. Even with the extra weight, it won’t stop the chill of my box fan completely, let alone keeping me warm enough during the brutal winter. But at night, when it’s not scary cold outside, this blanket reminds me of the Buffy Breeze bedspread (top) – it helps regulate my body temperature without overheating or being too cold. It is breathable too, so on my chances of sweating, I don’t wake up feeling trapped and overheated.

White Noise Goose falls on beds throughout the season for $64: This all-quarter medium weight bed cover is breathable, balanced, suitable for all seasons, with a 600-filled power thickness of 2 to 3 inches. The exterior material is soft, but it feels weird because it is made of polyester and nylon, although this helps reduce noise and is quieter than other things I’ve tested. It is machine washable, setting a huge balance between thin and relaxed weather while still being comfortable with enough thickness. However, the bedspread has a very strange, spicy smell that smells like grass and sweat. I washed twice and dried to make the odor tolerable, but during the test I could still smell the light occasionally. This is a solid all-season bedspread that achieves a good balance and has a high price. I just wish it didn’t smell as rough as it was. –Molly Higgins
