Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) After Charlie Kirk’s assassination, he shared nearly four minutes of video on social media that warned of “an unsettling rise in political violence” that senators feared that it could lead to fear of participating in public life. He added that “every American” must condemn what happened to Kirk.
Sanders has long been a staunch opponent of Republicans and conservatives such as Kirk, but progressive senators said Thursday that the division is exactly what democracy and freedom are all about. He added that anyone who believes violence is the answer is a coward.
“A free and democratic society, which is what America should mean, depends on the basic premise that people can speak out, organize and participate in public life,” Sanders said in The American. video. “Not worrying that they might be killed, hurt or humiliated for expressing their political views. In fact, that’s what freedom is and the nature of democracy.”

“In fact, political violence is political cowardice. This means you can’t convince people of their correctness and they have to be imposed by force,” Sanders said. “Every American, no matter what a person’s political view may be, must condemn all forms of political violence and all forms of intimidation. We must welcome and respect the dissent. That’s what our constitution means, that’s what our bill of rights means, and in fact, that’s what freedom means.”

After Kirk was assassinated Wednesday, the commotion broke out on social media along with posts celebrating his assassination and records of others. But lawmakers on both sides of the aisle completely condemned Kirk’s lifelong political violence.
“This is terrible,” Senator Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz. explain. “Charlie Kirk is a husband, father and son. Violence is never the answer. Sydney and I have been keeping the Kirk family in our prayers.”
“I am very upset about the threat of violence entering our political life, and I pray that we will remember that everyone, no matter how strongly we disagree with them, is a person, and the respect and protection that our fellow Americans deserve.”

Kirk wrote in a post citing X on X: “Assassination culture is on the left. Forty-eight liberals say that there is at least a reason to murder Elon Musk. 55% said the same thing to Donald Trump.”
“The left is in a craze of violence. Any setback, whether it is the loss of elections or the loss of court cases, proves the reaction to the greatest violence,” he said.
