Beloved game veteran Carter Lipscomb passes away

Carter Lipscomb is a gaming veteran with a huge personality who has passed away.

Lipscomb’s family published an article on his behalf, which was written in Lipscomb’s own cheerful voice.

“My family knows that if that happens, it means I write this note, keep the light and keep it real, but keep it real. I hope they did it with me,” Lipscomb said.

On LinkedIn, Lipscomb’s profile shows that he has been an expert in doctors’ business and business development at Iron Galaxy Studios since 2019. There is always a way to make people feel comfortable.

Lipscomb is also the co-founder of Christian Svensson’s video game Supper Club in San Francisco. They invited dozens of people to the club dinner at Prime Rib House, where I spent the evening gathering with Carter Lipscomb friends. Like many in the gaming community, I saw Lipscomb at the recent Dice Summit in Las Vegas, where he gave me a bear hug.

On Lipscomb’s Facebook page, former Iron Galaxy co-CEO Adam Boyes wrote: “This is the greatest Carter post he has never written. I love him so much and we’re all lucky. Be able to know him and bless our lives for him. RIP brothers!”

The cause of death was not disclosed, but Lipscomb has a history of heart disease. A few years ago, he collapsed in a run and was resurrected by a Good Samaritan who knew CPR. The game community at that time poured out support.

Simon Jeffery, former head of the U.S. team, wrote: “Some people in this business, if any, become friends and receive more than Carter. People love. Whether it’s humorous or serious Carter, he has been a positive force in the gaming industry for decades. This is where you go when you walk into a party or party to hear his big Carter voice . Rest in peace, you can’t believe in people. The industry will never know what you like again, so it is a sad, empty place.”

Game veteran Michael Chang wrote: “Carter – gentleman, myth, legend. So passionate, passionate and passionate. You will miss it.”

“Everyone loves people who play games,” Shawn Layden, former chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a message.

Another gaming veteran, Tammy McDonald, said in a message: “Carter is the glue for our weekly Coovid cocktail party. When Matt passed away, he went to great lengths to his best. Serving me. He has always been the heart, the definition of “working family.”

Cindy Airey recalls her favorite Carter story in a message. She said: “Call Carter from Waikiki (his 60th place) and sang Happy Birthday. Tell him we need to do Carters Carter Cinco de Mayo Dukes Waikiki’s birthday (a month later) . He was still not sure about the whole common thing, but he said it was typical Carter fashion! So that was when I booked back – he booked himself to go – and made some friends and we did. It was me One of the most precious memories of Carter, I text and pictures every time I’m at Duke. I’ll always remember him there. He’s been calling more for the past few months- Will say, “My friend signs in to you.” About the third time I realized he was signing in to me because I shared the loss of my father after XD and the hard times I had with sadness. With Carter, you can make ” Real”. Every show we start with a meal or drink, how we help each other. He is a true empathetic soul. My friend Carter

After Lipscomb’s death, his family posted an article on his Facebook page. Here is the post:

Hey, great people! ! !
Well, it seems I’ve upgraded my final gaming field. Let’s celebrate the incredible journey we’ve had together!

I’ve been part of the epic video game Fam for the past 30 years, and it’s nothing more than a wild, exciting and fun journey. From amazing game launches to memorable trend-setting industry experiences, we count every moment. Whether you know I’m the “doctor business,” “the boss of special seasonings,” or just “the brother of another mother,” I really cherish every experience we share and every laugh we’ve experienced. Thanks to each of you, I am so lucky to travel with you!

You all know my slogan and they still hold: “Teamwork McKin is the dream job”, “What does Tony spell backwards? Why not?” Life is too short to hesitate, so keep embracing every opportunity. Remember, “If you are ready, you don’t have to be ready.” Always be prepared for your next adventure.
Many of you know I’ve been on an extraordinary fitness tour and when we arrived home I just spent the night with Mrs. Jones. Fitbit gets me into all my metrics.

Unfortunately, even though I was healthy, I “falled” for the last time and everything was great. I think that was my time. Luckily, I was lucky to have family nearby.

My family knows that if that happens, it means I write this note and keep the light and keep it real, but keep it real. I hope they do it right by my side.

bye for now,
Carter!
