Georgia House Democrats staged a strike to protest a bill to vote on the governor’s desk to ban taxpayer-sponsored gender-change surgeries for prisoners.
The bill passed 100-2 votesand neither record any votes.
Legislative SB 185 Sponsored Republicans State Sen. Randy Robertson, the Georgia Department of Corrections, provides taxpayer-funded transgender medical treatments, including surgical and hormonal treatments, to prison inmates. Robertson believes that about five inmates are treated in the document.
The bill now heads to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s desk for his signature.
