No, this is not the usual suspect, George Kittbut Jake Tonges scored a championship touchdown in a 17-13 win over NFC Western Conference rival Seahawks to open the 2025 NFL season.
Kittle grabbed the 49ers’ first touchdown pass this season from Purdy, but he left with a hamstring injury. In turn, he has only played 20 games since entering the league with the Chicago Bears in 2022 and he has had to join San Francisco.

Purdy finished with 277 yards in 26 of 35 pass yards and had two touchdowns and two interceptions in the roller bottle opener. While this isn’t his best performance, putting Christian McCaffrey in the backcourt healthy will certainly help.
McCaffrey’s availability started the season again, like in 2024, when he dealt with bilateral Achilles tendinitis. But the calf disease wasn’t serious enough to shock him, and he ran 69 yards on 22 carrys while capping 9 yards for 73 yards.
Ricky Pearsall is expected to be a key weapon in San Francisco’s pass game, leading the way with 108 yards on four catches, including Purdy’s 45 yard catch.

As for the Seahawks, Darnold scored 16 of 16 for 150 yards and seemed to have a strong chemistry with Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who targeted 13 times and scored 9 passes for 124 yards. Zach Charbonnet, not Kenneth Walker III, his only touchdown.
