Authorities are looking for an arsonist who attempts to catch fire while the corona burns the car.
The strange incident happened earlier Tuesday when authorities said a man jumped on a metal fence of a house in the 900 block of Wakefield Avenue and set fire to a black sedan in the front yard. Authorities said the flames were so explosive that the man’s clothes caught fire. It is not clear whether the fire is severe enough to cause any harm.
The homeowner’s surveillance camera caught the moment before the flame ball exploded, prompting the arsonist to jump back to the fence and catch fire with his clothes. Then the man was seen rolling on the ground to throw himself away.
Coroner Fire Department arson investigators said the trail was also very keen on the man’s identity and was also the motivation for why he targeted the house.
Surveillance video of the suspect will be shot at the black car and the video of the escape. (Corona Fire Department)
“Currently, we think it’s a random act of violence,” said Corona Fire Captain Daniel Yonan. “He is still relaxing.”
Police and fire investigators are seeking public help to locate the arson case in their 30s and determine that they are described as a man, 5-foot-6 inches tall and about 6 feet tall. They said the suspect had light-colored hair with shoulder length.
The man was last seen riding in a newer white pickup truck in the area, probably a Chevrolet or GMC, with tinted windows and light-colored rims.
