Australian authorities probe U.S. influencer over crocodile videos

Environmental authorities in Queensland, Australia are investigating a U.S. influencer with two videos showing him quarreling in two crocodiles.

According to the ABC, Mike Holston was made an influential person by The Real Tarzann, accused of catching and handling freshwater crocodiles in one video, capturing them in another and capturing saltwater crocodiles in another.

A Queensland spokesman for Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation said that the investigation is underway, “These actions are extremely dangerous and illegal and we are actively exploring strong compliance actions, including fines, to prevent anyone from such behavior.”

Mr. Holston released the two reptiles back into the wild at the end of the two videos. He could face a fine of nearly $25,000.

“Let’s be clear: people shouldn’t try to capture fresh or saltwater crocodiles in Queensland unless they are trained and licensed,” the department said.

Mr. Holston is not the first American influencer to run for Australian authorities on the country’s wildlife. In March, the hunting influencer Sam Jones was condemned and left the country after uploading the video separate Mother’s baby woman.
