Aurora authorities ‘declined’ to help search for 2 illegal aliens who escaped Colorado detention facility: ICE

Authorities in Aurora, Colorado allegedly refused to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States The agency said two illegal immigrants escaped from a Denver contract detention facility Tuesday.

Illegal immigrants Joel Jose Gonzalez-Gonzalez, 32, and Geilond Vido-Romerero, 24, escaped sometime Tuesday after being taken over the 2pm range on Tuesday.

Aurora Police Department shared a document with Fox News Digital that said staff at the facility were aware of the escapees at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday. It also said that at 5:13 a.m. Wednesday, an Aurora police officer responded to the “external agency assistant.”

Aurora Police Public Information Officer Joe Moylan said the department did not receive reports about detainees until about 2:30 AM, two hours later, after the agency’s authority emerged for five hours.

The document shows that Assistant Facilities Director Mohamed Bennani told Aurora Police The detention center’s forces appeared around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the back door of the facility open to the football field.

Bennani believes that this is the time when two prisoners escape through the back door. Facilities staff started emergency numbers around midnight and realized that both were missing.

The facility was still on the facility as of late Wednesday, but authorities said they should be able to view the camera’s footage once the camera’s lens is restored.

Ice said when agents contacted local authorities, they refused to assist in finding two escapees, who were still running in the early hours of Thursday. They also said they informed state and federal law enforcement partners to search.

“On March 18, two detainees escaped from the Denver Contract Detention Center in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Denver Contract Detention Center, located in Aurora, Colorado. Local authorities immediately notified local authorities and refused to assist in the search. Ice Road also notified other state and federal law enforcement partners. Aliens are still in the entire search and the search is underway,” an ICE spokesman said.

Moylan told Fox News Digital that if the men were confirmed in Aurora, Aurora police would “assist in the arrest.”

“This is a cold incident from the date we receive the notice,” Moylan said in a statement. “We are working with our federal partners to determine if the escapees have any contact with the city of Aurora. We will assist in the concern when there was an active arrest warrant and confirmation of the people in Aurora.”

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation told FOX 31 that it did not assist ICE in seeking escapers because federal agents were not in contact.
