Asus’ Zenbook A14 Is Wonderfully Light but Weak in Power

The A14 is only available in dark grey and in one configuration: the Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) CPU with 32 GB of RAM and a 1-TB SSD. ((renew: Asus now says the Snapdragon X Plus will come in another configuration, 16 GB of RAM and a 512-GB SSD, available for $900 starting March 3. x 1,200 pixel resolution. The port includes two USB-C jacks with USB 4.0, a USB-A 3.2 port, and a full-size HDMI Jack. One of the USB-C ports is for charging.

Average performance

All of these specifications are quite entry-level for laptops of this lineage, but the CPU should get your attention. The Snapdragon X is Qualcomm’s latest microprocessor, and it’s also the cheapest and least important version of the Snapdragon X Plus, which already feels used.

The good news is that the performance of the A14 with the Snapdragon X is not significantly different from that of a laptop with the Snapdragon X Plus. The bad news is that the performance is not impressive, and these laptops (including the A14) tend to drag a little bit. If you’re browsing the web and typing in emails, it’s not the end of the world, but for this Svelte Statater machine, it’s nice to show off a little power – small but powerful power. When it comes to graphics and video performance, the A14 is particularly sluggish and buyers shouldn’t dream of using it for creative work. Fortunately, Qualcomm has made progress in software compatibility in recent months, and Google Drive that was previously unusable, such as Google Drive, works fine.

Asus has assigned a maximum battery life of 32 hours for the device, and although I didn’t get to that level with full screen, full brightness, YouTube playback tests, I was able to scream for over 20 hours of runtime. (I tested this twice. The machine broke the record in terms of lifespan.

The audio was better than expected, surprisingly rich and loud. It’s the help of a silent machine of death. There are fans inside the A14, but I never let them fire, even the heaviest burden I can put on. The usability is equally solid, as the keyboard has enough action and the trackpad, while spacious, is not too big.
