Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe appears in the next bat match, when Valdez appears to express his displeasure with Salazar.

Valdez opened a 93mph sinker into Salazar’s chest and the receiver was not ready for it when he missed the ball, which hit his chest protector. Salazar stared at Valdez, who turned to him and returned to the mound behind the court.

Salazar took off his mask, took a few steps, walked towards the pitcher’s mound, and threw the ball back to Valdez.

The previous one MLB Pitcher and sports broadcaster Dallas Braden posted a tweet about the incident on X, saying it was “100% intentional” and called it “absolutely garbage behavior.”

After the game, Valdez was asked about it on purpose.

“No,” Valdez said. “This is not intentional.”

The 31-year-old said he and Salazar crossed.

“What happened to us, we just crossed,” Valdez said through the translator. “I called that ball, I threw it, we crossed. We went to the canoe, and he and I forgive myself, and said to him, and said to him, I was full of responsibility for it.”

Salazar said after the game that he was not Valdez pressing the wrong button, but that was not intentional.
