Apple today launched the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with a new design and an upgraded camera system.
Apple says the devices are powered by the new A19 Pro chipset and have a larger battery. Additionally, it points out that the ESIM model will have a slightly larger battery power compared to the Pro model with physical simulation.
The new Pro phone has an aluminum one, rather than the titanium used in the iPhone last year.
The company said it designed a new steam chamber thermal system as well as a new integrated model.
The company upgraded its telephoto camera from a 12-megapixel sensor to a 48-megapixel sensor. With the sensor replacement, users will be able to get 8x optical zoom. This is one of the highest optical zoom features on the market, and the Vivo X200 and its periscope kit offer 8.7x optical zoom.
Apple offers 40x digital zoom. That’s 100 times lower than what Google or Samsung offers, but it’s unclear whether Apple uses AI for digital regeneration like these companies.
All of this is covered by a new rectangular camera rod covering the entire width of the back of the iPhone.

The selfie camera has also been upgraded from 12-megapixel to 18-megapixel sensors. Apple will now also allow video recording from both the front and rear cameras.
The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199.
