Apple acquiesced to my Apple Watch SE 3 demands (mostly)

Earlier this year Open letter to Applegive the company my unsolicited (but totally free!) advice to make suggestions to improve its entry-level smartwatch Apple Watch SE. Now iPhone Event To sum up, I want to see anyone in Cupertino has accepted my advice.

I asked for a bigger screen, a faster processor and faster charging. The materials I mentioned are not necessary and are not always displayed online. I also think the watch doesn’t need every last health sensor. But the siri on the boat would be very good. this Apple Watch SE 3 There are some things I want, but not everything. Still, at the same $250 price, this looks like a very attractive budget smartwatch.

The screen is still smallt processor is the top of the line

I compared the display on the SE Gen 2 to my old Apple Watch Series 4, and they are the same size. It is available, but after wearing the 10th Series, or even the 9th Series, the screen feels clumsy. Until the pixels, the size on the SE 3 is exactly the same on the Apple Watch SE Gen 2, with a 759 square millimeter display area. sigh.

but! The same S10 chip entering the new series 11 will also be shipped in the Apple Watch SE 3. This means that the budget smartwatch will be able to handle Watchos 26 Features like workout partners and live translations are like their higher-priced siblings (Apple Smart-based iPhones still need to be nearby, just like other wearables).

The new chip will also use a useful double-head gesture as well as a new wrist movement that rejects the notification, which I think is a surprise for sending the notification – clearing the le. You can also process it on the machine requested by Siri. No longer just to start the timer too much. Gestures and Siri support are all things I hope the new SE will have. So, yes!

AOD is not critical, but faster charging is

Based on my experience with smartwatches, it’s always a good choice during playback, but if the screen lights up quickly when I raise my wrist, it doesn’t matter. But Apple continues to add the feature. So this is a reward.

I also said we could do it without a brighter screen, Apple agreed. Like the SE Gen 2, the maximum brightness of the SE 3 is 1000 columns – which is huge. On a screen like this, I can easily read the time and other related information in the bright sunshine and don’t need the extra fire of Series 11’s 2000 Nitt.

The most critical issue is to charge faster. The SE Gen 2 was charged…so…slowly…it took more than two hours to juice. For me, this makes it completely unusable as a sleep tracker because I can’t charge it while I’m preparing for the day (I can use every other smartwatch I’ve tested). Thankfully, Apple solved the problem. After only 15 minutes on the charger, the SE 3 can last for 8 hours. Hallelujah.

Sensors, case materials and the rest

The big news about the flagship series 11 Watch is the ability to detect high blood pressure. Apple Watch SE 3 can’t do it. It also doesn’t have sensors for ECG applications. As I said in the letter, it wouldn’t matter if my watch wasn’t the doctor’s office. SE 3 can track your heart rhythm during exercise if you wear a new sleep score on your bed. Plus Apple has added a temperature sensor that can help predict ovulation, etc. For budget smartwatches, this is enough for health data collection.

Although talking Plastic version In SE, this does not happen. Instead, the SE 3 is made of aluminum alloy, just like the Basic Model Series 11 – similar durability is a good consideration for any budget model.

And it’s still only $250! When the Apple Watch SE Gen 2 returns in 2022, Engadget’s Cherlynn Low calls it “The best smartwatch is available for purchase for $250. “With all the improvements Apple has made, compliments may be an understatement now.

So maybe Apple Folk didn’t read my letter. But there are good enough things I pretend they do. It always feels happy.
