“I’ve been fighting for more than 50 years for our civil rights, just watching them snatched by someone who doesn’t actually care,” Filstein continued. “He just does these things to appease religious rights so that they will look at them in another way when his barbaric political system seeks his own glory.”
Fierstein later claimed in the post that Trump was attacking freedom of speech.
“He attacked freedom of speech,” Filstein said. “He attacked the free media. He attacked the allies of the United States. His only loyalty was to himself – the Golden Mavericks. My fellow Americans warned you – that’s not the way it started. It’s the end of freedom. Trump may have declared “wake up” dead in the United States. We must prove that he is wrong.

Richard Grenell, interim executive director of the Kennedy Center, disputed Fierstein’s allegations on X, calling it a novel.
“This is a lie,” Grenell wrote. “Who told you this (because you obviously didn’t do your own research) should be fired by your team because they purposefully make you look stupid.”
He also noted that he has also been fighting for equality and proudly served as the first publicly gay cabinet official in the Trump administration as acting director of national intelligence.
