Texas Rangers The team announced Saturday that Scott Littlefield, the special assistant to the player personnel, passed away Friday at the age of 59.
Littlefield was found dead in his Houston hotel room after a noticeable heart attack. USA Today Report. The long-time MLB scout reportedly underwent heart surgery two years ago.
“Scott is one of the most respected Boy Scouts Major League Baseball Rangers president Chris Young told The Outlet that he had an incredible impact on the organization. “His voice is influential in every aspect of our baseball action from professional, amateur and international scouts to MLB players assessed. He is an invaluable resource and consultant.”

The Rangers represent Littlefield as the 2019 Red Jacket Scout of the Year. Littlefield joined the organization in November 2009 and was heavily involved in the team’s reconnaissance department.
Littlefield spent a lot of time with the Rangers Pirates in Pittsburgh, Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres organize. Littlefield won the scout of the year with Padres in 2007.

Littlefield is the brother of former Buccaneers general manager Dave Littlefield and medical coordinator for Mark Littlefield, the New York Yankees.
