Country Music Destiny Brett James, the man behind Carrie UnderwoodThe iconic “Jesus, on the wheel” of death in a plane crash in North Carolina on Thursday. He is 57 years old.
The James-owned aircraft carried two other passengers, who were also pronounced dead at the scene. With new information about the crash, it was revealed that the two passengers were his wife Melody Carole Wilson and his stepdaughter Meryl Maxwell Wilson.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to Fox News Digital that the aircraft was registered with James by his legal name Brett James Cornelius. He seemed to be flying the plane.

“A reel SR22T crashed in a field in Franklin at around 3 p.m. Thursday, September 18. Three people were on board,” the FAA shared in a statement.
James shared a heartfelt moment with his loved ones a few months before his death. On June 16, he smiled very much when he posted a family photo.
“It’s an amazing Father’s Day!!” James captioned the Instagram post.

A few days before his family post, the country songwriter shared a selfie of himself and his wife’s melody on the beach.
“My love is very interesting in Bahamas,” he captioned the photo.

The plane crash happened a few days after James’ stepdaughter Meryl celebrated her 28th birthday.

On Instagram, Melody gave her heartfelt tribute to her daughter, which was filled with Meryl’s backward photos over the years.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the incident.

The plane took off from John C. Tune Airport in Nashville and then crashed in the woods of Franklin. Authorities have not released any other details about the cause of the crash.
James’ outstanding career spans decades as he became one of the most successful and popular songwriters in Nashville.
He has produced more than 500 songs recorded by artists Mountain of FaithKelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and Meghan Trainor.
As the investigation into the plane crash continues, the country music industry has lost its music legend.
The country songwriter is known for his work on “Jesus, Riding Policy,” which not only won Underwood a Grammy Award, but also became the national anthem of modern country music.

Underwood acknowledged that James’ death was “incredible” and shared emotional tribute to her long-time friends.
“Losing Brett James to his family, friends and our music industry is so great to talk,” she wrote. On Instagram.

She added in her tribute: “Brett’s death left a hole in all of us and I fear it will never go away. It will always remind you that this life is just a moment… We must make the most of every day we have delivered on Earth. Every day is a gift.
James also co-wrote “Blessings” and “Last Night” for Martina McBride Kenny Chesneyamong many other charts.
In 2020, James was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame.
