House of Representatives passed a resolution to honor the “life and legacy” of late conservative activists Charlie Kirk Friday, more than a week after he was shot dead during a college campus speech event in Utah.
The measure received bipartisan support in a 310-58 vote, with both Democrats and Republicans rising rapidly to condemn political violence after Kirk’s assassination.
However, the vote separates Democrats, with 95 lawmakers voting to pass the resolution, 58 votes, and 22 lawmakers voting at all.
38 Democrats also voted on the resolution. Top three Democrats – Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., D-Mass. Whip Katherine Clark and D-Calif’s core group chair Pete Aguilar. – Everyone voted for this measure.

A source familiar with the discussion said that the democratic leaders of the House did not explicitly tell their caucus how to vote on the resolution.
The measure to commemorate Kirk, led by speaker Mike Johnson, praised the founder of the U.S. Turning Point “one of America’s most prominent voices, engaged in respect, civil discourse across university campuses, media platforms and national forums, always seeking to enhance truth, promote truth, promote the understanding of the Republic and strengthen the Republic.”
It also said Kirk’s “commitment to civil discussion and debate represents the example of young Americans throughout the political field, who worked tirelessly to promote unity without compromising criminals.”
