I Tested AirPods Live Translation With My Family. Here's What I Learned

I can’t ask for a better time. My Spanish-speaking mother-in-law comes and visits Apple releases live language translation capabilities on Airpods.

It’s in New Airpods Pro 3the store released on Friday and last year’s AirPods Pro 2 and Airpods 4 – Users also need to pair it with the running iPhone The latest iOS 26 software Use Apple Smart.

My mother-in-law is bilingual and speaks English well, but Spanish is her preferred language. When talking to my husband, she often jumps into Spanish first – which means it’s a big moment for me! I will no longer be in the darkness! With AirPod Stems, Siri makes me fill up everything they say in real time.

OK, almost everything. Depends on the clarity of the speech, or someone is using an unusual word, or whether more than one person is talking – well, sometimes Siri gets it wrong. Very wrong. In my experience, Siri might just be in swearing words that don’t belong (this happens more than once) or some descriptive word.

Apple does call it a “beta” product, so I know there are tangles to solve. But even with flaws, this experience shows me that the orange iPhone isn’t the most important tech story of the week.

In this episode of another thing you can watch embedded above, what I learned from my experience, and my first impressions of using the new AirPods Pro 3.

I also share some tips I learned when it pairs with iPhones, such as if it detects you are walking, or how you summon a “fitness partner” Peppy Voices gives you a sound of almost no activity to cheer you up.

I’m looking forward to continuous testing of the translation function, and I’d love to know it’s similar Translation services from competitors such as Google. But Apple doesn’t need perfection to make it a hot product. This will be big because AirPods are already so popular – meaning for many consumers, it will be their first experience in live language translation without the need for a screen.
