Chrome In Chrome’s Gemini is designed to simplify the online browsing experience: You can ask Gemini to summarize YouTube videos, or compare prices between multiple shopping tabs.
“We are constantly evolving our browsers to help you get the most out of the web, and we couldn’t even think of it a few years ago,” Rick Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president of platform and devices, said in a press release sent by email. “And we are doing it while maintaining the speed, simplicity and security of the chrome that many people love.”

It is convenient to make Gemini summarize web pages, but AI assistants will eventually do more. Over the next few weeks, Google introduced proxy capabilities to enable Gemini to perform tasks on your behalf. It should also be easier to review your browsing history. Instead of perusing a long list of sites, you can simply ask Gemini to pull up the walnut table you want from last week.
Gemini in Chrome works with other Google apps such as calendar, YouTube, and maps. So if you watch restaurant reviews on YouTube, you can ask Gemini to give you instructions to that restaurant and it can be done via Google Maps.

Gemini in Chrome is not the first browser to integrate AI. Microsoft is an early player, bringing Copilot returns on the edge of 2023. Gemini in Chrome will also bring AI-driven security. Google uses a lightweight model, Gemini Nano, which says it will expand protections to spot viruses or fake giveaways that deceive users. Google says website notifications are becoming annoying and Chrome will now be able to detect spam or scams.
Google’s AI model will essentially learn your preferences and automatically start blocking certain permissions. Whenever your password is indeed compromised, Gemini in Chrome will let you click on supported sites like Coursera, Spotify, Duolingo, and more.
