FBI investigating Discord chat where Charlie Kirk slaying suspect talked about plans

this FBI An investigation into the assassination of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk is now studying those in online game chats, and the suspect is believed to have spoken about his plans.

Authorities say the 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested for the killing, has an account on Discord, a chat app used by people playing computer games. Mr. Robinson’s boyfriend, who was also his roommate, later shared the suspect, who allegedly discussed the consequences of the killing.

FBI director Kash Patel Saying that chat is now the focus of the ongoing killing investigation, the bureau has begun accessing the full chat to serve as leader.

“We will also investigate everyone involved in the discord chat,” he told the Senate Judiciary Committee during his testimony on Tuesday.

Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley later said he had seen the chat involve about 20 people.

“It’s much more than that, we’re all going down.” Patel explain. “Everyone.”

Discord publicly stated that there was no evidence that Mr Robinson talked about his plan in advance during the chat, but then seemed to approve of the killing.

“Hello everyone, I have bad news for all of you,” he said in a message first reported by The Post. “I was at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for that.”

Others in the chat also pointed out that the publicly posted photos of the shooting suspect matched Mr. Robinson.

This leads to speculation that others may charge.

“Can anyone else be involved?” said John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican.

“Yes, sir.” Patel answer.

More broadly, Mr. Patel explain FBI A deep understanding of the root causes of ideological violence is being made.

That includes following “money” that may help fuel the situation, such as paying for training or sharing information, he said.

“We will hold them accountable,” he said.

When asked if any of the money that has been stirred up from “overseas”, he simply said “yes”.
