Calm is launching a new standalone app to provide more personalized sleep support, the company announced Tuesday. New There is a calm sleep app on iOS Calmness says aims to help people relax, sleep better, and wake up rejuvenation.
The app has Calm’s content, and its new features are designed to help users reach their sleep goals. Calm sleep first allows people to complete a brief onboarding questionnaire. The app then creates a personalized sleep plan that includes recommended content and daily tasks designed to improve sleep, focusing on areas such as digital hygiene, exercise, stress relief and sleep environments.
Calm sleep features a “sleep preparation” bar that increases as users complete tasks throughout the day. The company said the bar provides a visual tip to help users develop better habits.
The app also syncs with wearables via Apple HealthKit, allowing users to take action on their sleep data.
At the press conference, Calm Sleep will include new sleep stories by radio host Delilah and actor Andrew Scott, as well as an existing library of over 300 hours of sleep content and 500 sleep stories. Calm notes that all new sleep content will be available for four weeks exclusively before calming down.

Calm first entered the sleep content space by launching a sleep story 10 years ago, an audio bedtime story for children and adults. Calming says that since then, the sleep story has been played over a billion times.
“Calmness is the global leader in sleep globally, and more than half of our users have turned to us to rest and is also some of the most widely used content and tools on the market,” CANC’s chief product officer Jon Tien said in a press release. “Now, through a calm sleep, we are introducing a product that revolves around the sleep experience, from daytime habits to nighttime habits. We are helping people become more capable on the sleep journey, not just to understand it more, making you feel at ease and thus giving you a relaxed feeling before bed.”
