A report that Russian drone violated Polish airspace on Saturday was clearly a false alarm, possibly caused by the weather. Military officials quickly fought for jets to respond to reports near the country’s border with Ukraine.
Authorities said the airport in the eastern Polish city of Lublin was closed during the two-hour alarm. Officials said the radar team discovered a drone that appeared to have entered Poland from near Ukraine.
Senior military officials later said on X: “These operations show no signs of confirming our system and therefore no violation of establishing Polish airspace.
Polish military officials said they sent jet fighters to investigate due to the seriousness of the ground situation. Several Russian drones crossed Poland on Wednesday, prompting NATO officials to deploy jet fighters to shoot them down. This is the first time that NATO Airlines has hired enemy targets within the borders of members of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“All decisions made by our troops and resources during the mission are intended to confirm the dates obtained from the radar system, thus ensuring maximum safety for citizens [and] “The potential consequences of an unidentified airborne object that could violate the airspace,” the Polish military commander said on X.
Poland’s alarm was due to a brief violation of the airspace of Poland’s southern ally Romania.
