A single shot of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s life-long life spanned a gun control debate that had been barely moving for decades.
As high-profile shootings pile up in recent years, activists say the solution lies in background checks and bans semi-automatic ar style “attack weapons”, high-capacity magazines and 3D-printed guns.
But authorities say the shooting that killed Mr. Kirk was from the Mauser bolt rifle, which was in .30-06 caliber, a classic “hunting gun” and a weapon that was previously unafraid of even the most aggressive dreams of gun controllers.
“As usual, Democrats have no hesitation to assassinate Second Amendment advocate Charlie Kirk to promote his unconstitutional gun agenda,” said Aidan Johnston, director of federal affairs for gun owners in the United States. “But the murder weapon is a kind of fanatical Mauser Gewehr 98, the first bolt action rifle made in Germany more than a hundred years ago in 1898. So when Democrats demanded a ban on “assault weapons”, every gun owner must realize that it also means Grandpa’s old hunting rifle.”
Bolt performance rifles are loaded once by manual working bolts.
Rifles are often at the heart of the gun debate are semi-automatic guns fed by magazines, where the gun itself will automatically bring new rounds into the chamber after each trigger pull – but, like a bolt rod, each trigger pull can only lift one round.
Automatic rifle or machine gun fires continuously until the magazine or belt is empty. Under U.S. law, they are already subject to strict restrictions.
The ammunition used to kill .30-06 Mr Kirk is considered a high-power cartridge, which means it can provide a more powerful fist over a longer range.
In recent years, AR-style rifles that dominate gun debates often use so-called intermediate cartridges, a balance between high-power ammunition and low-power ammunition.
In the high-profile shooting crimes, using bolt-firing rifles is rare, although Lee Harvey Oswald used the bolt operation of the 6.5mm Carcano rifle in November 1963 to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.
Of the 263 deadliest shootings in U.S. history, only five bolts imitate rifles, almost always secondary weapons, and are usually never used, according to data compiled by the Smoking Gun website. The so-called assault weapons were used in 71 shootings, with the AR-15 rifle being about half of them.
Mr. Kirk talked about the mass shooting in a signature “Prove Me Wrong” incident at the University of Utah when he was shot Wednesday.
Law enforcement retracted what they said was bolts that were used in the woods near the school’s campus. It is wrapped in a towel.
A round was carried out in the room, with news left beside the gun. In the message there is “Hey Fascist, catch!” and “If you read this book, it’s gay, lmao.”
Police arrested Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, about Friday’s shooting.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Mr Robinson “pleaded guilty” to “a family friend.” A friend contacted the Sheriff’s Office in Washington County, Utah.
After the killings, guns quickly became the focus of many people.
Some weirder commenters have raised some justice online about Mr. Kirk’s death because he strongly opposed gun control.
Mr. Kirk spoke of the trade-offs of gun control proposed this tour: “Unfortunately, it’s worth the price of some gun deaths every year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. It’s a prudent deal. It’s a rational one.” It’s rational. ”
Members of Congress called for a re-debate on restrictions.
“Go through some gun laws!” Rep. Jahana Hayes, a Democratic Connecticut, shouted after the House of Representatives held silence and prayer for Mr. Kirk.
“Would you like to shoot to start realizing the scourge of guns? I hope they realize it,” Rep. George Latimer, a Democratic New York, then told reporters outside the chamber.
Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said Mr Kirk had fired most of the comments about guns.
“Democrats treat all guns like they are ‘attack weapons’ and want to ban them. Guns don’t have brains to hate or fingers to pull their own triggers. Attacking gun ownership doesn’t solve any problem.”
