The Zapruder footage of Kennedy’s assassination was largely unseen by the public until 1975, when it aired on state television more than a decade after his death. Its grainy frame shocked the audience. Troy said Americans at the time “rely more dependent on what cultural caregivers put on TV.”
Troy added: “The gatekeeper controls what you see.”

When asked about the public impact of such high-speed graphic lenses, Troy said: “Desensitization is the right word…to you be bad.”
“It’s not good for your soul. It’s not a problem that doesn’t work – it’s available. Then you have to work hard not to see it.”
Troy noted that shortly after Kirk’s murder, some voices on the left seemed to rationalize or downplay the violence, while others minimized the suspect’s background by minimizing the suspect’s background. He called the reaction a “terrible exercise.”

“It’s a horrible tragedy, and this man wants to talk about the political conversation with three kids in murder,” Troy said. “But that’s where we are today. If there is political violence, they want to make sure that it doesn’t lower their side.”
Turning Point founder and commentator Kirk, 31, was killed Wednesday by suspected shooter Tyler Robinson while answering questions at Utah Valley University. He left behind his wife and two children, age and three years old.
