Rizzo, 36, joined the Cubs’ team ambassador and threw the first game of the ceremony at former teammate Ian Happ to start the day. Then rizzo Go to the left stand to enjoy the game and be part of the action.

Instead, Rizzo reached out and dropped the ball, which deflected from his hand. He showed him on TV that seemed to say, “That’s why I retire.”
Rizzo, a 14-year Major League Baseball veteran, said he plans to eat a hot dog, drink an adult drink, and possibly throw a baseball on the left field.
“I can really make it happen one day,” Rizzo said.

The three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Gloves champion hit .272 with 242 home runs and 784 RBI in 10 years. He helped the team win the 2016 World Series and won its first championship since the team.
Rizzo was traded to New York Yankees As part of the 2021 trade deadline sell-off.
Rizzo and his family will visit Chicago this summer for the festival Lollapalooza, when Cubs owner Tom Ricketts invited them to dinner, where they discussed the role of the ambassador.

“Being traded is a whirlwind, heartbreaking, so much emotion and playing for the Yankees is so special to me,” Rizzo said. “I grew up with Yankees fans.
