Rizzo, 36, joined the Cubs’ team ambassador and threw the first game of the ceremony at former teammate Ian Happ to start the day. Then rizzo Go to the left stand to enjoy the game and be part of the action.

The three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Gloves champion hit .272 with 242 home runs and 784 RBI in 10 years. He helped the team win the 2016 World Series and won its first championship since the team.

Rizzo was traded to New York Yankees As part of the 2021 trade deadline sell-off.

Rizzo and his family will visit Chicago this summer for the festival Lollapalooza, when Cubs owner Tom Ricketts invited them to dinner, where they discussed the role of the ambassador.
