President Trump praised FBI Director Kash Patel for capturing the shooter who killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“I’m very proud of the FBI,” Trump said to Fox News numbers. “Kash and everyone else – they did a great job.”
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox announced Friday that Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in the shooting death of Mr Kirk. It was only more than 30 hours after the incident.
“Because of your leadership, Mr. President: Justice will be served,” Mr. Patel wrote in response to Mr. Trump’s comments on him.
Mr Patel said in another post: “Based on all suggestions, we requested videotapes and enhanced still records of the suspect. Robinson’s father eventually turned him to authorities and told law enforcement that he met his son in that released video.”
The president’s praise comes after some Trump administration allies criticized Patel for searching for online criticism of killers.
“I am grateful that Utah authorities have captured the suspect in the Charlie Kirk assassination and think it’s time for Republicans to assess whether Kash Patel is the right person to run for the FBI. He has done a great job in the past few days and it’s unclear whether he has the operational expertise to investigate, incite peaceful abuses, incite, invade, intrude, and intrude, and have everything, this is my state of violence, namely career studies, this is the scope of Easterology, this is the Islamic, this is the Islamic,” Rufo, a conservative activist and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, wrote on Friday.
“We will take a moment to ask Kash Patel if there is a need to do the job. In recent days, I have been calling many conservative leaders who are wholeheartedly supporting the Trump administration, and none believe the FBI’s current structure can accomplish this task.”
Mr Patel initially said Wednesday that “subjects” were detained, but a few hours later the person was “released after a law enforcement trial”.
Nevertheless, after Friday’s announcement of Mr. Robinson’s detention, people in Mr. Kirk’s circle thanked Mr. Patel for their work.
“Thank you, Cash, thank you.
