First on Fox: People who are not proficient in English may be turned away US Citizenship Test According to new Republican proposals.
Fox News Digital learned that R-FLA. Rep. Randy Fine plans to introduce a bill that will be conducted entirely in English.
The U.S. Citizenship Examination has several different components. While most parts are only in English, there are currently other languages that can be used to adopt citizenship tests (out of 100 possible questions in US history and government, applicants are required to have 10 possible questions as long as certain criteria are met.
Fine’s bill will eliminate these exceptions.

“The fact that American citizen applicants can currently use interpreters to perform naturalization tests ruins the idea of absorbing American culture. If you want to live in one English-speaking countriesyou should be able to speak English, period,” Fine told Fox News Digital.
“My bill will require all applicants to take the naturalization test only in English, because metaphorically and literally, everyone who enters our country with the one who stays should speak our language.”

Current law stipulates that permanent residents over 50 who have lived in the United States who have lived for at least 20 years can use another language to adopt the civic portion.
People over 55 are at least permanent residents of the United States who are at least 15 years old have the same exemption.
Both groups must bring the interpreter fluently and his native language to the exam.

However, the bill may face opposition from immigration advocacy groups.
Fine’s proposal came after the president Donald Trump In March, an executive order was signed to name English as the country’s official language, the first time in U.S. history.
