A senior zookeeper at Bangkok Safari was attacked by five lions this week and died this week.

According to the Bangkok Post, breeder Jian Rangkharasamee, 58, a 20-year-old veteran of the zoo’s lion and tiger area, got out of the car, stood back, and turned back towards the five lions before the attack on Wednesday.

According to Thai news website Khaosod English, the attack was initiated by a male lion named Trump, and the lion, AI, Aon, Bite and Yao were subsequently joined.

Five lions are about 10 years old. Now they are held separately so that experts can try to restore their behavior.

Mr. Langhalasama died of injury, the attack was the first in more than 40 years of such incidents in operation, said the zoo’s parent company, Safari World Listed Company Ltd.

Safari World said on Facebook that zoo housing and tiger big cat area are now closed.
