Tiana Mangakahia, she is with Syracuse Women’s Basketball Her family said Friday that the team had passed away. She is 30 years old.
After her College CareerMangakahia plays basketball abroad in professional basketball games in Russia, France and Australia.
Mangahaya’s family said the loss of loved ones made them heartbroken, but remembered the former athlete’s “courage and grace.”

“We were heartbroken and shared the death of our beautiful Tiana Mangakahia,” the family wrote on a social media account in Mangakahia. “She left us [Thursday]surrounded by family, friends and a lot of love. Tiana is a brilliant light that touches everyone she meets with kindness, strength and warmth. She fought until the end, showing courage and grace beyond words. ”

Mangakahia was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. She began to undergo eight rounds of chemotherapy and two surgeries. She let her go WNBA Ambition Shelved in April of that year, and finally decided to return to Syracuse’s last year for eligibility.
“Syracuse’s track and field mourn the death of Tiana Mangahia,” Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack said in a statement. “Tiana defines courage, inspiration and passion. She is an all-american on the basketball court and she is a better person.”
During her international career in Mangahaya, a new cancer diagnosis forced her to leave the court. Later she pivoted the guidance.

“We are very sad to learn about the death of the Field Mountains,” Australia said in a statement. “Tiana, facing a second battle with her breast cancer, inspired us all with her courage and resilience. She returned to court earlier this year in NBL1, with a strong reflection of the power, determination and enduring love for the game in the Southern Region Spartans.”
