Election Day is less than two months away. Zohran Mamdani Two new polls show he stayed ahead of New York City’s mayor’s rival.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist State MP in Queens, shocked the political world by defeating the former government with a compelling victory in June. Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 in multiple scandals and served as an independent candidate in the general election after losing his primary, received 23% support in the survey conducted on September 4-8.
The Guardian Angel co-founder Curtis Sliwa is the Republican mayor nominee for the Democratic-dominated city, accounting for 15%. The current mayor who fought with Eric AdamsHe received 12% support in the survey after deciding to skip the Democratic primary election that had decided to skip the anemia poll.

“Days became more intense during the day during the mayoral game, and Zohran Mamdani was waving the wind in less than two months,” said Mary Snow, assistant director of Quinnipiac University.

Quinnipiac’s poll shows that if Adams ends his reelection campaign, Mamdani will lead Cuomo 46%-30% at 17% at 17%.
But the New York Times/Siena survey, which took place on September 2-6 in the field, pointed out that in the two hypothetical candidate competitions, Mamdani Eding Cuomo was 48%-44%.
Quinnipiac’s poll shows that Mamdani supporters are more enthusiastic about candidates (91%) than Cuomo (75%), Adams (75%) or Sliwa (79%) supporters.
“Among supporters, Mamdani’s advantage over passion is the plus sign,” Snow noted.
If he wins the November election, Uganda-born Mandani will become the first Muslim and millennial mayor in the country’s most populous city.
Mamdani swept the Democratic Party’s primary victory, thanks to a dynamic campaign that focuses primarily on affordability and the high cost of living in New York City. This is supported by supporters of grassroots military and the highest national progress champion, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Bernie Sanders of New York and Vermont.

Mamdani has cleverly used social media platforms including Tiktok, along with low-key voters. He proposed to eliminate fares to ride New York City’s vast bus system, make CUNY (University of New York City) “no tuition fees”, freeze rent on municipal houses, provide “free parenting” for children under the age of 5, and establish a government-run grocery store.
Of the nine questions raised, 30% of respondents in the poll said crime was the most pressing issue, and 21% said affordable housing and 13% named inflation. No other problem breaking double digits.

More than two-thirds of the possible voters who just questioned said they were not satisfied with the situation in New York City. Two-thirds said they disapprove of Adams’ handling of the mayor’s work.
Most of the people surveyed said they want the next mayor to stand up on immigration (60%) and crime (56%), while four out of 10 said they want the next mayor to work with the president on both issues.
