CNBC host Joe Kernen said Thursday that President Donald Trump told him he believes in conservative activists Charlie Kirk One day I will become president.
In the latest episode of CNBC’s “Squawk Box” (celebrating its 30th anniversary on Thursday), Kernen revealed that Trump called him to congratulate him on broadcasting live in the show’s thirty years. During the phone call, the host noted that Trump praised Kirk who was assassinated on Wednesday.
“He was shocked by Charlie Kirk and said, ‘One man, a great man’, he said he helped him a lot in the last election and thought Charlie Kirk might one day be president and he was a talented man.”

Kirk was shot dead at the opening ceremony of the “America Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. When he Being assassinated In front of thousands of listeners, many of them were college students.

Trump issued a statement from the Oval Office on Wednesday Condemn assassination.
“Charlie inspired millions, and tonight everyone who knew him and loved him was shocked and feared,” he said. “He was a patriot, his life was dedicated to the cause of open debate, and the country he loved so much – the United States of America. He fought for freedom, democracy, justice and the American people. He was a martyr of truth and freedom, and never a man who was so respected by youth.”

Kernen mentioned that Trump told him that the state will heal after Kirk was murdered.
“Then he went on to say that the country will heal. He focused on his attention and he said, ‘I’m focusing on winning, if the country wins, if I do everything I can to help the country win, we’ll all be able to unite again,” he said. ”
Nen also expressed Trump’s praise.Squawk Box. ”
