The House Doch Subcommittee will hold a hearing on weather control and geographic engineering next week, a hot topic for committee chair Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Hearing “Fit with Weather – Disastrous Prediction” hearings involve subcommittee legislators delivering government efficiency hearings to witnesses about the role of the federal government in changing weather and possible consequences.
“Geographical engineering activities and weather control are often slight understanding and can lead to potentially dangerous consequences,” said Ms. Green, a Republican of Georgia. “The Trump administration” Environmental Protection Agency Recently, geoengineering activities were clarified, and I introduced the Transparent Sky Act to prohibit geoengineering and weather modifications. ”
She said she expects “experts to hear ways to maximize transparency and accountability regarding the state of weather and climate control technology.”
The subcommittee will hear from Roger Pielke Jr., senior fellow at the American College of Corporate and Christopher Martz, meteorologist and policy analyst at Tomorrow’s constructive committee.
Ms. Green introduced the “Sunny Sky Law” in July. Its purpose is to ban weather modifications in the United States and to fine up to $100,000 for each violation of the alleged weather modifier, or to see up to five years in prison.
The bill says the weather modification could be geographic engineering, an activity designed to cool the earth. Cloud seeds, a technique used to increase precipitation; solar radiation modifying, intending to lower temperatures; and release aerosols into the atmosphere to affect temperature, precipitation or sunlight.
“In the end, we can really fight in Washington to protect our sky, protect our water, protect our atmosphere and most importantly protect our families,” Ms. Green said in a video posted on X when the legislation was introduced.
After conspiracy about cloud seed sowing began to rise this summer after catastrophic flooding in Texas, Guadalupe River water levels rose rapidly, killing more than 130, including more than 35 summer camps.
According to the North American Weather Revision Commission, since the 1940s, cloud seeds have been sown in dozens of countries around the world.
“Weather modifications (also known as cloud seeds) are an environmentally friendly way to produce more clouds in the form of rain or snow,” the website says. “It works by introducing tiny particles (‘seeds’) that create additional droplets or ice, which accelerates the precipitation process and improves the efficiency of the cloud. Cloud seeds are also used to reduce hail damage and eliminate fog.”

It said states such as Florida and Tennessee passed bills respectively, and in 2025 and 2024, prohibiting ways to affect temperature, weather or sunlight intensity. Other states including Texas, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Vermont have filed similar bills.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin released a video in July, understanding why people have questions about fences in aircraft and geographic engineering, and his department will prioritize transparency.
“For anyone who has ever looked up at the stripes in the sky, asking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ or seeing headlines about private actors even wanting to pollute the sun in the name of stopping global warming, we strive to answer all your questions on the links on the screen,” he said.
He said EPA “There are many of the same concerns when it comes to potential threats to human health and the environment, especially in solar geoengineering activities.”
