Toddler found lifeless in a car; L.A. dad accused first of neglect, and then of murder

A 40-year-old Los Angeles County man was arrested for allegedly killing his 1-year-old daughter, who was found unconscious in a car earlier this week, prosecutors said.

After Edwin Johnson was arrested Tuesday, authorities went to a house in the 3800 block of Chanson Drive because of reports of a child without breathing. The authorities are in one Press release.

The Sheriff’s Department said medical staff from the Los Angeles County Fire Department examined the girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was initially arrested for alleged involuntary homicide and neglect of a child. Authorities said on Thursday, sheriff’s detectives demanded that he be charged with murder of a girl.

Johnson was detained and his bail was set at $200,000, according to prison records. He plans to appear in court for arraignment on Friday. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the girl as Maeve Blakeley-Johnson.
