New York – President Donald Trump Arrived at Yankees on Thursday and spoke with the New York Yankees ahead of the 9/11 anniversary game against the Detroit Tigers.
Trump landed in New York shortly after 6 p.m., hours ago, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Trump met with the team at the club Before the game begins.
“Over the years, there’s some presidential honor and wealth, first pitching or anything that’s possible. So he’ll be here and I’m glad to be a part of it. I don’t know what it would be, but to interact with him for a few minutes, and I’m looking forward to that.”

On Thursday, Trump was the first major league baseball game since the 2021 World Series Houston Astros and Atlanta Warriors were in the presidency. His last game as current president was the 2019 World Series between the Astros and the Washington Nationals before Thursday.
Trump announced earlier this month that he would compete. The Yankees announced Wednesday that fans were urging to arrive early and make public transportation. The gates open at 4 p.m. ET, 90 minutes ahead of normal circumstances.
Before Trump arrived, the Yankees scoreboard showed the highlights of the 2001 World Series between the Yankees and the Arizona Rattlesnakes. The Rattlers won the series in seven games, but the Yankees’ wins in Games 4 and 5 ended in dramatic walks less than two months after the September 11 attack.

Next season, the 25th anniversary of the attack, the Yankees and the New York Mets will face off at Yankees Stadium. They performed at Citi Field on September 11, 2021.
