HBO Max is going to get more expensive, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO says | TechCrunch

Warner Bros. discovers CEO David Zaslav said HBO Max will become more expensive and harder to share passwords, as reported first Hollywood Reporter. Zaslav talked about the future of streaming services at Goldman Sachs Communacopia+Tech Conference.

“It’s the fact of quality – in our company, movies, TV productions and streaming quality, it’s the fact that we all think it gives us a chance to raise prices,” he said. “We think we’re down.”

Zaslav also said that the crackdown on passwords by streaming services will happen in the future.

“We haven’t pushed password sharing and economics yet,” he said. “People really start to fall in love with HBO Max. That’s the key. We want them to fall in love with our content, as well as our series, and differentiated products outside the U.S. are tricky with password sharing. We’re going to start pushing that.”

Currently, a basic plan with an advertising plan costs $9.99 per month, a standard plan costs $16.99 per month, and a premium plan costs $20.99 per month.
