As law enforcement officers continued to search for the person behind Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old turning point founder, the witness described a scene where the shooting occurred on the Utah Valley University (UVU) campus.

“There aren’t a lot of policemen out there. I have more policemen at UVU than I am now,” said a witness identified as Sam, a local high school student, who told Kutff. Sam also wondered why there were no stricter safety measures, such as bag inspections before the incident.

“People are absolutely scared of their lives. I can see it in their eyes. I can hear them. People are crying. People are screaming. It’s a nightmare,” DeFries said.

Devries walked to the turning point of the university student chapter table, where he prayed for Kirk with his members.
