The Pro X uses multiple drivers, just like the 3anc in front of them: dynamic units at the lowest frequency and paired with dual knowledge balance arms at the upper and higher points. Just like in tower speakers, with woofers, mid-size and tweeters, multi-driver earplug divides and conquests by sending specific frequencies to the tuning drivers to handle them.
Out of the box, earbuds are set to status signature – default tweaks for Pro X. It’s a good balance equation that neither raises high nor high, but still has a warm tone. The middle distance has easy details and the high point has excellent clarity. The bass is strictly controlled; even if the Pro X is pushed to 95% of the volume, Billie Eilish’s bass “bad guy” It sounds perfect, without obvious distortion.
Switching to Knowles Preferred Presets will bring a lot of bumps to the upper level and the high point to show what those balanced armbands can do. Usually, this tweak doesn’t do that for me, but on the Pro X I was impressed with the pleasure I had with it. If you find yourself attracted by Bose’s high-energy sound signature in the past, this preset brings you very close.
If you can’t find the balance you like from the five presets available, you can scroll by yourself. Actually, one of the best features is to create custom EQ presets starting with existing features. My identity signature is just a little bit low end and totally gets the mix I want. At this point, I had to provide state props for their app; it was super clean and very easy to use.
The sound field is not particularly wide – my limbs are about 3-6 inches away from my head, but with high accuracy. Individual elements stand out from each other, so you can psychologically point out the various musicians playing in front of you. Jazz Classic Dave Brubeck’s “Five” You will benefit greatly from the Pro X’s clear sound separation, allowing you to appreciate every instrument in its own space.
I’ve done most of my listening on the iPhone 16, but it’s worth noting that the Pro X supports Sony’s high-quality LDAC Bluetooth codec. If you are on Android, make sure you enable it for smoother, more refined performance.

I use Sony’s WF-1000XM5Bose’s Quietcomfort Ultra earbuds, Sennheiser’s Momentum Real Wireless 4and Technics’EAH-Z100. Status X’s state far exceeds its own sound quality. I personally still prefer the XM5’s sound signature, thanks to its more resonant bass response, but that’s more of my taste than any drawbacks of the Pro X, and they’re great.
