Gov Spencer Cox declares Charlie Kirk killing a ‘political assassination’ at Utah campus

In a solemn and emotional statement Wednesday night, Utah Governor Spencer Cox The deadly shooting of two American founder and father Charlie Kirk was announced as a “political assassination” that was an attack from the Center for Democracy in the United States.

“It’s a dark day for our country. It’s a miserable day for our country,” Cox said. Condemning the move is an offense to the founder’s vision, that “all people are given … a certain inalienable right. The first is life.”

The Republican governor reminded Americans that Kirk “first and foremost matters to young children” and that his commitment to freedom of speech is why he is on campus.

About 12:10 PM MDT, one shot, about 200 yards away, hit Kirk in the neck. Utah Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said the shooter opened fire from a nearby roof. Kirk was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The assassin’s pursuit continued Wednesday night.

“The topic has been released after the law enforcement trials have been conducted. Our investigation continues and we will continue to publish information about transparency interest,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in X Post Wednesday.

Cox is a 50-year-old Utah native who recently secured his second term as governor. As the current, he faces tough challenges from Rep. Phil Lyman, who calls on the hard side of the party.

Cox publicly recognizes the president Donald Trump July 2024, weeks after the assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania.
