The man police believe he killed a retired Auburn University The professor was arrested in 2023 and charged with felony related to guns, but prosecutors later allowed him to plead guilty to several misdemeanors.

A Virginia Beach Police Department officer wrote in Dabney, who was homeless at the time, that he slept in the business’s parking lot when law enforcement was asked to trespass.
The official wrote that he observed Dabney sleeping in the driver’s seat and said he was “f-cked up” and refused to speak further. Police said when they searched the car, they found a “pistol hidden under the driver’s seat” without a serial number, and the shotgun in the back seat sawed off, “the white pill and an open container.
Dabney had no criminal record before the December 2023 incident and had a job a few months ago but was unemployed at the time, police wrote. Police noted that Dabney “refuses to swear/confirm that the truth about bail”.

Court records show Dabney pleaded guilty to all misdemeanors, while prosecutors waived felony charges, which would result in two to ten years in prison if convicted. He was sentenced to a misdemeanor with 12 months of unsupervised probation.
Schnuelle is Emerita professor at Auburn University’s Veterinary School, which retired from 2003 to 2021, the university said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
